Fertility Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a safe and effective healthcare system used in women’s health and gynecology. This paired with lifestyle changes, Chinese herbal medicine, and supplement recommendations can help constitutional imbalances that build up over time.

Acupuncture benefits the menstrual cycle by regulating hormone function and by increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs. We can make significant improvements to the health of your cycle in preparation for your IVF or IUI. Acupuncture is deeply relaxing to both the mind and body, helping to reduce the internal stress and anxiety that often accompanies your fertility journey. Frequently Asked Questions:

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture needles are tiny – you may feel a slight pinch when the needle goes in, which then subsides. People are usually pleasantly surprised at how deeply relaxing an acupuncture treatment is.

Where Do You Put the Needles?

The needles are placed mostly below the elbows and below the knees, on the belly, and a few relaxation points on the head. Acupuncture needles are sterile, used one time and disposed of.

How Many Sessions Do I Need?

Research shows that it’s best to start acupuncture 6-8 weeks in advance of your cycle. That being said, any acupuncture is beneficial, so if you’re closer to your procedure, you will still see the benefits of fertility acupuncture.

Do you accept insurance?

We are not in network with any insurance companies, but if you have acupuncture coverage, we can give you a superbill to submit for reimbursement. We do this for many patients, so call your insurance to find out your benefits.

What Should I Expect from an Acupuncture Treatment?

Based on your health history, a Chinese medical diagnosis of your health complaint is determined. We will usually talk for a couple of minutes so you can fill us in on any updates, and then you will get on the table for your acupuncture. You will then relax with the needles in, which is a good time to meditate or simply take a nap.
